Nokia S60 3rd edition that was intended to be cool and great actually has a fatal defect: the more the SMS that you have sent (not the ones that are on the inbox or sent folder), the longer the phone hang / locked-up / freeze after sending every one SMS. This article presents the solution.
Nokia S60 edisi 3 yang harusnya keren dan bagus ternyata ada suatu kesalahan fatal: semakin banyak SMS yang pernah dikirim (bukan yang tersimpan di kotak masuk atau terkirim), semakin lama ponsel mandek (hang) setelah mengirim satu SMS. Artikel ini memberikan solusinya.

Pada awalnya masalahnya tak begitu terasa, misalnya jika Anda baru mengirim 200 SMS, ponsel Anda hanya mandek sekitar 1 detik. Jadi hampir tak terasa. Tapi jika misalnya sudah 1000 SMS, entah mengapa bisa 10-20 detik, dan selama waktu itu benar2 tak bisa diapa-apakan, bahkan tombol power dan tombol merah tak berfungsi.
On the beginning the problem is not significant, for example if you only have sent 200 SMSes, your phone will only lock-up for a second. So it's almost nothing. But if for example you have sent 1000 SMSes, I don't know why the phone freezes as long as 20 seconds, even 2-3 minutes as I see at online forums. During that time your phone will be not functional at all, even the power button and the red button don't respond.
Jika kemudian ponselnya Anda reset atau format atau "kembali ke pengaturan awal", masalah tersebut akan teratasi untuk sementara, karena beberapa saat kemudian setelah Anda mengirim ratusan SMS, masalahnya kembali.
If afterwards you reset or format the phone or "restore original settings", the problem will be overcome temporarily, because a few moments later after you send other hundreds of SMSes, the problem comes again.
Jadi, bagaimana kalau begini saja: backup semua data ponsel ke komputer dengan PC Suite, lalu format/reset/..., lalu kembalikan lagi? Harusnya berhasil, dan memang berhasil, tapi gara2 Keamanan Platform di S60 edisi ke-3 ini, hampir semua program di kartu memori terpaksa dipasang manual. Benar2 mengesalkan.
So, how if we do it this way: backup all the data of the phone to a computer using PC Suite, then format/reset/... and then restore it back? It should have been successful, and actually it is, but because of the Platform Security on the S60 third edition, almost all programs on the memory card must be manually installed. Really annoying.

card Kingston one thing i do thing u people should do is
update your nokia n73 by the nokia update software on this
site. people in the UK u will need to update your service
code on your phone for this you will need 1x NOkia USB Data
Cable 1x copy of NSS Service software. U NEED TO BE
RUNNING WINDOWS XP Sp1 +.
How to find your Service Code! take the back off and where
the white lable is ul see this Code:0541479 U need to
edit this using your NSS software and USB cable *NO SERVICE
BOX OR SMART CLIP NEEDED* after uv installed NSS install

| By design and features the phone is really is good that why
I choose it but its really slow functioning phone. The main
problem is sometimes loudspeaker automatically starts upon
receiving a call, after finishing the call the phone is
hanged up and I can't even switch it off and switch on. I
have to remove the cover, then battery and restart the
problem. I've been jerking around NOKIA Care for last 5
months but they don't have any solution available yet. This
is the family bug of this phone.

and best of all, my phone didn't freeze like it always does

| Hi all, have any 1 faced this problem. If u intent to send a
msg to a wrong destination then u get a msg from the
operator saying that the destination ur trying to send to is
not correct. This msg comes 30 to 40 time’s
continuously non stop. Even if you reset ur handset and
remove the batteries and the sim card still u get this msg.
any idea how to stop this and what could be the problem.
Note: it happens only to symbian phones

| wow. good so far. i first installed it and my phone kinda
froze. then i restarted it and it was super slow. i got a
general system error message and couldnt do anything with my
phone. i got kinda scared and thought it was a faulty file.
so i was thinking of uninstalling the file. had to restart
my phone several times. but then now it seems like
everything works again. messaging is sooooo much faster
than before. i used to get so frustrated. but hopefully
this keeps up.

| in august, i installed the sms accelerator, and as earlier
stated, was so happy that sms-ing is back to being fast.
however, i noticed starting a couple of weeks ago, that it
is starting to become slow again... now it is back to
freezing for up to 2 minutes before the phone can be
functional again... grrrr....

| To solve this problem, I wrote a freeware program which
reads sent/received messages and stores them into a single
HTML file, so you can definitely delete all of your messages
and speed up the phone, also at startup (it appears also
startup is very slowed down by large amount of stored
SMSs).
My program works fine on UIQ 2.x phones, and works "a bit"
on s60 1st/2nd.

format my memory card,now after 3 month I have 1000 sms in

| Don't do directly, or you'll overwrite old ones!
You have to extract text from files using one of the
available tools (look for "save sms text symbian"):

| Masalah download..Saya ad satu masalah besar ttg phone saya
mngenai download..kenapa lama sangat masa yg diambil untuk
memulakan download pada n73 saye..pada mulanya memg la
cepat..tkn saje download link terus aje download start..tapi
bile dah bnyak/kerap sangat download,masa yg diambil untuk
download semakin lama..contohnya pada pertama kali download
lagu masa yg diambil untk strt dowld cume 2 ke 3 saat..tapi
bile dah download 20 ke 30 lagu atau ke laman web lain ia
menjadi lambat sampai 1 ke 2 minit kene tungu..jadi saye x
ble download file yg besar kerana masa yg ditunggu sangat
lame sehinga conection time out..ad x spe2 yg bleh tangani
masalah ini..

| Thank you :-) this has worked well on my N73 in active
standby mode - the texts take maybe 1 min instead of 5+
mins - many thanks !!!!! (interestingly if I go thru the
normal menus its now very slow to create a message ) but now
my only real problem is the lack of a text message
notification - it vanished in the last Nokia update
........any ideas? once gain thank you - was seriously
thinking of changing phone
